How did Stamford, Texas get its name?

According to the late Inez Rollins, who was raised in her parents' boarding house close to the old train station on East Reynolds, a rilroad executive named McHarg from Stamford, Conn. named Stamford after his home town. Oliver, Reynolds, Hamilton, Vanderbilt, Wells, and Colombia streets were all named for railroad executives or places back east. - Jacquelyn A.
